Thank you
Now here it is the story and my understanding of Hebrew 11:1

A woman named Dionysia. She lost a court case and she was not happy with the decision so she decided to take the case to the highest court which was in Alexandria. Instead of her going, she sent her slave to Alexandria court along with a box that was made with stones. Inside the box there was documents for the court to review for her case. The slave had to spend a night in the inn and the inn caught fire and killed the slave and destroyed the inn. Fast forward after 2000 years later Archaeologists found the stone box and inside there was a piece note ut reads “ My lord, the judge in order for you to know my case is just here is my Hupostasis.”
So under that note there was a document a property deed with her name on it. The case she list was a property land and the Hupostasis was the property deed. So yes one of the meaning of Hupostasis is a deed document that proves ownership. But let use also remember Hupostasis is a foundation a base that something which stand one. Hupo- stand, stasis - under. That which stands under! In America hupostasis is similar what you get on Amazon after you checkout your shopping cart. Confirmation number. They didn’t send you the product yet but you have that confirmation number as a guarantee of hope and ownership. My only concern about Hebrew 11:1 is that I couldn’t see no definition to what is faith because it only tell you what faith do. Ia like if someone asked you what are legs ? and you answered saying legs are walk. Wait a min.. We know that legs is not walk, walk is what legs does. Two different thing. So when we define faith, first we should ask our self what faith are defining? Abraham’s faith? , Elijah’s faith? David’s Faith,? Moses’s Faith? , so on. They all have different meanings. Faith is not a deed. A deed is what faith gives. Faith is a conviction but a conviction what faith gives. Please pray about this and correct me. My name is Tensae. from Ethiopia. Jesus ...Thanks, Jim.

Yes, faith is the "title-deed". Jesus said, "Whatever things you ask, believe that you receive them, and you will have them" (Mark 11:24). The NASB has "believe that you have received them."

That is, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that it has become your possession, because by faith, it has. Faith is the title-deed by which we can say "I have received it and it is now mine." We may not actually see it yet, but hope is the expectation that we indeed shall behold it.

Thanks for bringing that wonderful example from archeology to my attention.

God bless you and your work in Southern Africa.Jeff Doleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06582602841064840774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8794452.post-57313715888498640042007-02-09T02:21:00.000-05:002007-02-09T02:21:00.000-05:00Hi Jeff,Great article. God bless you! I have been ...Hi Jeff,

Great article. God bless you! I have been working as a missionary in Southern Africa and was doing a study on faith and looked up the word "hupostasis" and came upon your site. Thought you might alos be interested in the following storry that I found:

Archaeologists uncovered the burned ruins of an old inn in Northern Israel. There they found a small iron chest containing apparently the valuable papers of some Roman noblewoman who had been traveling in Israel at that time, for the purpose of checking up on her various land holdings, properties that she owned in Israel. In this little chest they found that most of the papers were labeled with a big title "hupostasis". All of these papers which had the title "Hupostasis" across the top were, guess what?--Title deeds to her properties! But this was long after the Bible was translated, so they didn't have the advantage of that discovery.

If you want to turn to Hebrews the 11th Chapter, the word "substance" is just as good and conveys the message and I'm quite sure it's sufficient, but if you want to make it even clearer and more explicit, you can write above that word "substance", in parentheses, "title deed". Now faith is what?-The title deed!

This Roman woman perhaps had never seen her properties she'd bought in Israel, but she knew she had them and she could prove her ownership even though she had never seen them.

A friend gave me a car once; I got the title through the mail. Though I'd never seen the car, never driven it, didn't know what it was like, I knew I owned a car. I knew I had it because I had the title in my hand.

If you've got real faith, even though you haven't seen the answer yet, you've got the title deed to it! What you asked for is yours; your name's written on it, and you will see it eventually-that's faith!

Sorry, Jeff, that this is a bit long but wanted to share it with you as it inspired me.

Regards,

JimJim and Junehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12096564226416174887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8794452.post-1113686110267844452005-04-16T16:15:00.000-05:002005-04-16T16:15:00.000-05:00Dear Jeff, I enjoyed reading your article.
